OVERVIEW

Kitzbühel has four ski areas, two of them connected and centered around a friendly, medieval Austrian village. The Hahnenkamm is by far the largest, and the most accessible from the town. Any skier that has followed ski racing has heard of the Hahnenkamm, the site of a treacherous downhill race course that is the every downhiller’s badge of honor. The area has plenty of steeps, and some nice groomed and off-piste options.

You can ski peak to peak on excursions to another Kitzbühel area, Jochberg-Pass Thurn. Jochberg has some great terrain, long bump runs and wooded glade skiing that makes for excellent, and memorable skiing. And for early or late skiing, it’s higher elevation provides slightly better snow. Jochberg has a good lunch and substantial apres-ski activities as well, with bus service back to town.
